With their long-awaited debut album Everything Every Single Day out in the world, The Rions are stepping into a new chapter of their journey — one built on years of friendship, growth, and the infectious energy that’s made them a staple of Australia’s indie scene. The four-piece from Sydney have already won over crowds with their heartfelt lyrics and sun-drenched sound, and now they’re ready to take things to the next level. In this candid chat, the band opens up about the highs and hurdles of creating their first full-length record, the meaning behind their latest single “Cry,” the joy of performing live, and their hopes for what’s to come.

You’ve just releasedyour debut album ‘Everything Every Single Day’! What has the journey been like with the creation of this body of work?

I always pictured the journey of making an album as super stressful and difficult, and though that turned out to be true, the process of deciding what songs will be where and what will be cut and kept, kind of revealed itself to us, and once we had it, we knew we had it if that makes sense.

You guys have definitely earned yourselves a place in the iconic Aussie indie music scene, how does it feel to have your music received so well by audiences?

It’s a feeling that is hard to describe for sure. We’ve been lucky enough to have always been met with positive reactions and support, so it’s a massive privilege to be able to say we have always been given a familiarly great reception to our music.

The single ‘Cry’ was a standout in the album. What is the inspiration behind this song?

‘Cry’ was definitely inspired by the want to and responsibility to use our platform for good. As four young men we feel it’s our duty to pull up other younger men to help teach healthier behaviour and to challenge toxic masculinity in anyway we can.

The ‘Everything Every Single Day’ tour is coming up - which city are you most excited to play in and what is your favourite part about performing your music live?

Definitely for me [Harley] it’s Adelaide. One our favourite cities in the world to play to, our loudest and most enthusiastic fans. I think my favourite part is the crowd, when songs are well received and people are smiling, crying or dancing. Makes all the difference for us.

Big things ahead for the band, what are you guys hoping to achieve in the next year or so?

I think we’d just love to take our album as far as we can and keep pushing forward as we have been doing for nearly a decade. Anything other than that will be a bonus!
