A True Entertainer: Robbie Williams Live at AAMI Park - Review

Growing up, I always remember hearing the likes of ‘Rock DJ’, ‘Angels’, and ‘Let Me Entertain You’ playing through my parent’s speakers. Whenever Robbie was in town, I would always hear the laughter from the other room whilst he was on TV interviews. From this, I’ve always had a love for Robbie and his music, his cracked-up humor, unique voice, and boppy songs.

Going into the evening, I thought I was going to be the youngest person in the room. But surprisingly walking into AAMI, there were heaps of young adults like me with their parents, probably with a similar influence growing up.

I always knew Robbie was an entertainer, but this was top-notch. Spanning over 25+ years of music, we got taken through a journey of all highs and lows, from Take That hits all through to Come Undone.

The crowd was electric and full of laughter. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face, interacting with Marc in the crowd, quizzing his knowledge on Robbie’s life story, teasing his daughter for not being at a Harry Styles concert instead.

If you have watched his documentary, you would know that Williams hasn’t had the greatest time in the spotlight, but I truly believe now like he said on stage, that he is the “happiest (he) has ever been”. From his fun dance moves with the backup dancers, to his bedazzled suit and chunky jewelry, Williams truly will always be an entertainer, and there’s no stopping him.

Towards the end of the show, Williams paid a beautiful tribute to the late Shane Warne, wearing his green and gold jersey and singing ‘You’re The Voice’, we all hope Warne was looking down from above and enjoying the show too.

Closing the show with no better song than ‘Angels’ the crowd was almost louder than Williams, waving their hands with their torches in the sky, it was the perfect way to close a perfect night.

Going into the evening rather unsure of what to expect from William’s, I can confidently say that I was not dissapointed.
