Nick Ward LIVE in Melbourne: A Review
On Friday night, The Night Cat in Fitzroy hosted the first stop of Nick Ward’s House With The Blue Door tour.
The night kicked off with Friday, an artist from Western Sydney. Despite taking the stage without his usual band, Friday’s set was energetic and engaging. His incredible vocals paired nicely with his upbeat tracks, making him the perfect to get the crowd hyped for the evening.
The next set of the night was Juice Webster, whose ethereal vocals were absolutely captivating. Although her sound had a softer, dreamier vibe, she and her talented band’s performance kept the crowd hooked and swaying in time with the music. Her subdued vibe brought a lovely contrast to Friday’s high energy set.
Finally, Nick Ward and his band took to the stage. For me, this was a new experience, I had never listened to Nick Ward’s music before tonight, choosing to arrive with fresh ears. And I’m glad I did! His rich vocals carried beautifully through the venue, and he and his band’s stage presence was incredible. Their set delivered a lovely mix of high energy and danceable tracks, to slower and softer songs. The crowd had reached peak excitement during Nick Ward’s set, singing, dancing and jumping along with the beat.
Overall, The House With The Blue Door tour stop at The Night Cat was an incredible experience, from the talented openers to Nick Ward’s exceptional set. The dynamic musical styles throughout the night created a perfect build up to Nick Ward’s engaging performance. The intimate atmosphere of The Night Cat combined with the artists performances, made for a fun and memorable night, one that has left me eager to dive deeper into Nick Ward’s discography.
