Tate McRae Live In Melbourne: A Review

The atmosphere was buzzing amongst the crowd entering Margaret Court Arena. Being over 2.5 years since her debut in Australia at the Forum Theatre, fans are ecstatic with chatter around her recent album announcement ‘So Close To What’ and to hear her new album ‘Think Later’ live.

A lot of us have probably seen a video of Tate performing on their For You pages at least once a day, (and I know you rewatched it 1000 times) so this night has been a long time coming.

After the incredible supporting set from Charlieonnafriday, the room was electric as they sang along to the pre-show playlist, waiting for Tate to grace the stage. Just when you thought they couldn’t be more excited, the room flooded with screams as the lights dimmed and Tate’s silhouette with her hair effortlessly flowing in the wind appeared on the stage.

After her intro of ‘Think Later’, she apologised to fans as her voice was wearing out, however, you would never tell as her husky vocals and flawless dance moves carried throughout the set.

She also didn’t fail to mention that Australian crowds are some of her favourites as they sold out her debut tour in only 3 minutes. With a clear demand to see the 21-year-old singer live, even Margaret Court Arena proved to have underestimated the demand with 2 back to back sold-out shows.

Fans were spoiled with some of their favourite hits including ‘guilty conscience’, ‘it’s ok i’m ok’, ‘greedy’ and an intimate performance of ‘grave’ which Tate surprised fans by bringing the performance to the pit.

To wrap up the show, Tate performed her newly released single (only out the day before) ‘2 hands’ with an INCREDIBLE dance break and crowds singing back the words perfectly having it only been out for 24 hours.

It’s safe to say that Tate’s performance didn’t disappoint and Australia is ready to welcome her back with open arms for her Miss Possessive Tour in 2025.
