Park Rd LIVE In Melbourne - A Review

It’s extremely rare to find artists that blend my music genres into one world so seamlessly. Through melodic tunes and eclectic elements, Park Rd - An Indie-Rock band from New Zealand stole the show and made it their own.

The band had come all the way to Australia to perform a few headline shows with an astonishing amount of attendees having swivelled their way to the main stage floor. Amongst the shadows of short pixie haircuts, fans were eager to get the best view of the performances for the night and ready to dance with their friends and loved ones.

Opening acts - Peach Fuzz and Pepper La Floyd kicked off the evening with so much vibrance and energy that left the audience staying back and wanting more act after act. I couldn’t help but notice an array of people wearing graphic tees with their favourite artists of the night at the front and found their support something to be commendable for.

Time had arrived sooner than ever at the Workers Club and Parks Rd was ready to give it their all. There may have been a handful of amp cords and sound decks on stage but these guys knew how to make it work like no other.

Playing iconic tunes including ‘Surfer Boy Paradise’ and ‘I Got You’, the audience shouted the lyrics from one wall to another and waved their hands to and fro. I was amazed at Tom’s vocals being pitch perfect to the actual recordings and made everyone feel like we were lost in their world with every song.

Having released one of their new singles ‘Antidote’, I fell in love with their way of storytelling and expressing themselves over the music. They made you feel the lyrics even when the song had already finished and the lights had dimmed down.

Park Rd is a captivating and timeless band that I look forward to seeing them grow in the future and hope to touring across the globe can help everyone get to know how incredible this band really is.
