Supported by the groovy San Diego based band, ‘Almost Monday’, the crowd was entranced from the start. Orchestrating a pit of people with a wicked kung fu flow, Almost Mondays’ lead singer Dawson Daughtery brought a particular grooviness that infected the audience almost immediately. With an ocean of swaying, bopping mobile heads, ‘Almost Monday’ performed their best hits, From their #1 ranked song on Billboard Alternate Airplay ‘Cant Slow Down’ to a song all aussies can relate to, ‘Sunburn’. It was undeniable by the end of their set how prepared the crowd was for The Band Camino, the one thing Almost Monday didn’t expect was how eager the crowd was to see them again soon.
Hitting the stage while ‘HasJustBegun’ played over the speakers, The Band CAMINO set the expectation for the evening to be a myriad of songs that conveyed just maybe what falling in love was like. Starting off with their fan-loved classics, ‘Daphne Blue’ and ‘Hush Hush’ from their 2019 EP ‘Tryhard’, the audience mirrored both lead singers Jeffrey Jordan and Spencer Stewart's passion, calling back on the memories of past lovers amongst the dulcet pop-rock driven instruments. The inclusion of songs such as ‘Berenstein’ and ‘Heaven’ cemented that the band may be moving onwards from their past experiences, but these songs forever had a place in their hearts as much as ours. Needless to say, the night went off with a snap, literally, as Jeffrey snapped his guitar string during ‘Infinity’. The energy the band as a whole brought was returned fervently by fans throughout the venue, with not a single stiff body to be found.
As the night went on, both singers took turns and harmonised the woes of love while Garrison Burgess supported the melodies from the drums. All of which evoked the rawest responses from the crowd, with members enhancing every song by adding a chorus of backing vocals. This was seen especially in their latest release ‘Afterthought’ in which every single throat was undoubtedly clamping from the sheer volume rise in everyone's voice.
The Band CAMINO utterly resonated with each individual, being a band that is so easy to love by performing the feelings of yearning, missing someone and ruminating in the pain. They might be a long way from their home in Nashville, The Band Camino has successfully established an Australian fanbase that awaits their new music and future tours with passion.
